iCat CBCT scans are fast, detailed, cheaper than hospital CT scans, and take place in an open environment to prevent claustrophobia. Taking these scans prior to your dental implant surgery allows us to complete more comprehensive treatment planning and expedite your overall procedure time. In addition, it allows us to provide you with precise results and minimize complications and reduce the risk of implant failure. The CBCT scan also prevents the need for exploratory surgery which will save you time, money, and discomfort.

After we take the CBCT scan, we are able to customize your procedure. The scan gives us a look at your jawbone and the exact locations of your teeth. We will know if you will require a bone graft to accommodate the dental implants or if a neighboring tooth has roots that will interfere during the procedure.

During the actual placement process, we will follow the guide we created based on the information we learned from the CBCT scan. The procedure involves applying a local anesthetic to the implant placement site to numb the area. We will surgically insert the post which resembles a small screw. After placement, you will wear temporary replacement teeth for several months until your jaw heals. Once it’s fully healed, we will take impressions and create your permanent restorations.
